Well, Hello! You've stumbled upon the new, official Homes of Joy Blog! This space will be used to share stories from volunteers at the Nyumba Yanga Orphanage.
Currently, Micaela Roughton, Amanda Roughton, and Angi Eddy are packing up and getting ready to go (in an HOUR) from rainy ol' Victoria BC to Lusaka, Zambia. We have packed two suitcases full for the Orphanage, and cannot wait to see what adventures await us there! Stay tuned here for updates and thanks for checking us out!

- “Homes of Joy” is a small group of men and women working to provide homes and to meet the needs of orphaned children, wherever they may be. We strive to provide orphaned children with the support needed to cope with both the immediate and long-term consequences of HIV/AIDS, conflict, and poverty. Our organization endeavors to provide the funding required to meet the basic needs of the orphans and to ensure they receive a quality education, have access to medical care, are raised in a safe and loving environment, have access to alternative family supports, and have opportunities to participate in skills-training. We believe that with this support, these children will be able to successfully reintegrate into society and will make a positive and permanent impact on their community, country and the world as a whole.
